Training Topic: Forensic Auditing
Participants: Nigeria Incentive-Based Risk Sharing System for Agricultural Lending (NIRSAL) Staff
The session strengthened participants’ ability to detect red flags early, investigate irregularities systematically, and build audit work that stood up to scrutiny.
Key areas I covered included:
Forensic audit mindset: where issues typically hide and how to spot patterns
Fraud risk indicators, control weaknesses, and common schemes in operations and finance
Evidence gathering and documentation discipline for defensible findings
Investigative techniques: interviews, transaction testing, and exception analysis
Reporting: writing clear, factual, and actionable forensic audit reports
The training improved participants’ capacity to prevent, detect, and respond to fraud risks more effectively, while strengthening internal control awareness and investigative rigour.
